Job description

The Security Research Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and implementing scientific research projects to promote secure computing and identify vulnerabilities while developing tools to address security gaps. Required skills include proficiency in programming languages such as C, Kernel, Assembly, and Python, as well as experience with security practices, CPU architecture, and hardware/software validation.

Responsibility

  • Initiates the design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects.
  • Applies scientific research principles and concepts to define and architect secure design and operation of Intel's hardware and software products.
  • Ensures products conform to standards and specifications by evaluating threat assessments and conducting vulnerability assessments.
  • Identifies new vulnerabilities and develops tools and processes to close security gaps.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of security principles and contributes to literature and conferences.
  • Develops security-related project plans, assesses risks, and responds to client requests or events.
  • Researches technological trends, enables partnerships, and collaborates with industry, academia, and technical groups.
  • Influences external research and raises the profile through scientific publications, patents, and talks.
  • Performs research to create proof of concepts or prototype new ideas.
  • Works with engineering design teams to determine product requirements and feasibility of secure product design.
  • Recommends features and influences future Intel product roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Information Systems with 4+ years of experience in Security Domain.
  • Proficiency in C, Kernel, Assembly, and Python programming.
  • Strong understanding of CPU Architecture and Micro-Architecture.
  • Experience in building and debugging kernels and writing kernel modules.
  • Experience using configuration management tools like GitHub.
  • Experience in developing automated applications, tools and exploits.
  • Familiarity of Secure development life cycle and Static Analysis Tools, Penetration Testing Tools, Security Auditing Tools.
  • Solid knowledge of hardware validation/debug, software validation/testing.
  • Excellent team player with strong English communication skills.
